Rheem RH2VY Variable-Speed Air Handler

Comfort starts with the air moving through your home.

The RH2VY pairs an indoor coil with a variable-speed, constant-CFM blower. It is an option to discuss when you want more control over indoor airflow with a compatible heat-pump system. We explain the indoor unit, outdoor match, and thermostat together so you know what you are getting.

UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS

What an air handler does

It contains the indoor coil and blower. In summer, air passes over the coil as heat and moisture are removed. In winter, the coil delivers heat supplied by the heat pump, and the blower circulates it through the ducts.

Airflow and controls

A constant-CFM blower adjusts its speed to help maintain the selected airflow within its operating limits. With a compatible EcoNet communicating system, airflow can adjust with demand. With a conventional 24-volt two-stage thermostat, operation uses two airflow speeds. Controls and setup determine what you experience; variable speed does not make duct problems disappear.

How it differs from the RH2TY

The RH2TY guide covers a constant-torque blower. The RH2VY uses a constant-CFM variable-speed motor and supports EcoNet communication. That is a meaningful airflow-and-controls difference, but the best choice still depends on the approved equipment match and your home. Compare the RH2TY guide →

What we check before recommending it

Available space, service access, drain routing, supply and return airflow, electrical capacity, and the approved indoor/outdoor match all matter. Your proposal should identify both the air-handler model and heat-kit model.

Electric backup heat

An optional, correctly sized electric heater kit can provide supplemental or backup heat. It is separate from heat-pump operation and can use more electricity. We identify the kit and explain how the thermostat calls for it.

What maintenance looks like

Keep the correct filter on schedule and leave service access clear. During routine care, ask us to check the indoor coil, blower, condensate drainage, electrical connections, and installed safety controls. Tell us about new noise, water, or airflow changes.

Efficiency belongs to the whole system.

The RH2VY uses R-454B refrigerant. SEER2 and HSPF2 depend on the certified indoor/outdoor combination, not the air handler alone. We will verify the actual match before assigning a rating or savings estimate.

A few questions worth asking

Is this the exact system on my proposal?

This guide explains an equipment or package family. Your proposal identifies the actual models, capacity, accessories, installation work, and terms for your home. Ask us to walk through any difference.

Will a higher-efficiency system fix an uncomfortable room?

It may help, but airflow, duct condition, insulation, and sizing can also be involved. Tell us about the room before choosing the replacement so we can explain what the proposed work will address.

Can I compare payment options?

Yes. Ask us to explain available financing options alongside the equipment choices. Financing is subject to approval and applicable terms.
